Marcelino: ''Getting the win would put us in a very good position"

The Valencia CF coach talked to the media on Saturday. With his side playing Girona this weekend

After three consecutive games at Mestalla, Valencia CF take on Girona away from home on Sunday at 4:15pm CET. Before the match, coach Marcelino spoke to the media in his pre-game press conference.

More points for Girona at home than away
I always have the point of view that I prefer to play at home rather than away. We can't be over-confident; we had a great game here against them and it wasn't enough to get us even a point, so we hope to have the same feeling but also be more effective in order to take three points that would be very important. Getting 7 points from 9 has allowed Girona to be in a comfortable situation, but we want to win and take a second consecutive victory in the league.

Games against Girona, Sevilla and Getafe being decisive
We're focused on LaLiga now. The game against FC Krasnodar could be definitive, but the league game isn't. This is a really close league, in which every team has had to suffer -even the three 'big' sides. I think that there will be a battle to the end for every objective. This is an important game, we want a win away from home and a second triumph on the bounce, after a comfortable win against Athletic -who were on a good run. Getting the win would put us in a very good position ahead of the final game before the international break, which is against Getafe.

Rotations
We will make changes, as we have been doing when we've had three games in a week. The entire group is at a good level, and it's difficult to leave three players out who deserve to be in the 18-man squad, but it's the tough task of being a coach.

The meeting with Peter Lim
When he comes here and asks to talk, I'm delighted to do so. It was a very similar meeting to previous ones. He's always shown me affection and complete confidence. We talk about football and about Valencia CF, but I can't give you any more details out of respect for those who were present.

Gonçalo Guedes' morale
When a player goes through an injury, returns and things aren't working out as he would like, it's logical that they will be impatient. We have to look for it to be the opposite, and give him calm. He puts in the utmost effort and things will work out as they should for him. He has a lot of talent and a good attitude, and he's a straightforward person: With all of these values, it's a question of time. On a personal level this need to do well should be converted into anxiety. We will try to make sure that doesn't happen and convince him that his best moments will come soon.
